The Thendara water comes from a well located near the picnic tables. In the winter season cold temperatures can freeze the water in the pipes under the building. In order to keep the pipes from freezing we have to drain the system. We do this when the lodge is unoccupied and unheated and there is a chance of temperatures dropping below 32 degrees. When occupied, our propane heater provides heat to the basement area in order to help keep the pipes from freezing. There is an electric heater in the basement to supplement the heat on excessively cold days.
Please follow the procedures to help avoid damage to the pipes and fixtures.
Reminder: The pump switch must be ON for the propane furnace to start. This is a safety interconnect to avoid accidentally leaving the propane furnace running when the lodge is closed.
